West Virginia is the only state that conducts a systematic comprehensive screening of risk factors in youth across all counties. The WV CARDIAC Project has the largest data set of children’s screening results for lipids, pre-diabetes and hypertension in the world. CARDIAC addressed each individual’s results and reports to parents and primary care physicians with parental permission.
